Established in 1930, Thompsons is still owned and managed by the original family. That's over 80 years of great service to the folk of South Tyneside!

We have two shops, both in South Shields, Tyne and Wear. As a family business we never forget the values that customers expect: great service, great products, and great value (after all, we go shopping too!). Don't you just hate being served by a miserable sales person? All our sales staff enjoy working with the public, many customers drop in just for a chat! And none of our staff are on commission....

We have deals on all the time, and the product we stock is shrewdly and carefully selected to allow us to pass on great savings to our customers. As members of Euronics, the largest electrical buying group in Europe, we are able to take advantage of massive buying power to make sure we remain more than competitive in the consumer electronics market.

We deliver and install televisions and other brown goods locally, and we also provide local delivery of washing machines, fridge freezers, and other white goods. The charge is a standard £15.00 for local delivery and £15 for installation of brown goods. Sometimes we can arrange same day delivery, or you are welcome to take the item away yourself at time of purchase!
